NCOA ADDRESS CLEANING
Approximately 15 percent of the households in the United States move each year. The majority of these moving households move locally.
Standard, nonprofit mailings without the endorsement "or current resident" that are addressed to an "old" address are discarded by the postal service. The result is wasted paper, printing, postage, and, of course, no chance at securing a sale.
The United States Postal Service maintains an ongoing database of individuals who have moved or are planning a move. This database is offered to mailers to clean their mailing lists in advance of their efforts. The database, at a specific time, covers movers from the past three years. Any computerized mailing list can be compared to this database to correct addresses before mailing.
The move rate among cultural organizations tends to be lower than the national average. Patrons of nonprofits tend to be older, more established, and settled within their communities. A move rate of six percent to eight percent is most common. There are regional differences in the move rate in the United States. Southwestern and western areas have a higher move rate while the "rust belt" states tend to have a lower move rate.
Enertex Marketing offers National Change of Address, (NCOA), on a daily basis with twenty-four hour turn-around. The cost of NCOA is a fraction of the expense of mailing wasted mail to "ghost addresses."
